PHOTOS: Drug Dealer Arrested by Howell PD in Lakewood found in Possession of Stolen Handgun, Drugs & Cash

arrest 3A suspected drug dealer with a stolen weapon, drugs and cash was taken off the streets of Lakewood by Howell Police.

At approximately 1:00 PM on Wednesday, Officers assigned to the Howell Police Crime Suppression Unit initiated a motor vehicle stop on a minivan taxi on Route 9 near the Exxon gas station.

Subsequent to this stop, 22 year-old Lakewood resident Amir Reid was found in possession of a loaded, stolen 40 cal. Glock handgun, nearly 500 baggies (decks) of suspected heroin, marijuana, needles, and a large sum of cash. He was arrested, processed and criminally charged with possession of marijuana and heroin, distribution of heroin, possession of a firearm while committing a CDS crime, unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of stolen property, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Reid was transported and incarcerated into the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in default of the bail set by the Howell Municipal Court Judge the Honorable Susan Schroeder – Clark.

Individuals who chose to behave such as this by engaging in such repulsive behavior will be vigorously sought after, apprehended, and prosecuted. We will not allow criminals to soil our community,” said Chief Andrew Kudrick, Jr.

Mr. Reid is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

CSU Officer Pavlick initiated the investigation assisted by Lt. Rizzo and Officers TJ Hurley and Richards. Patrol Officer Motani also assisted.

“Excellent job by all those involved,” the Chief said.

  1. All sworn law enforcement officers have joint jurisdiction. Just cause a crime occurs within the town they work in doesn’t mean they can’t pursue them into another and effectively make an arrest.

    It’s called the law of hot pursuit. For example, if you run the last light in Howell, they can chase you into Lakewood and get you there.
