PHOTOS: Driver extricated and airlifted to hospital following crash at Lakewood border

A patient needed to be extricated from his vehicle after an accident this evening at the Lakewood Toms River border, as reported on our news alerts.

The accident occurred around 8 PM at the intersection of Vermont Avenue and Hickory Street. It’s unknown at this time if a second vehicle was involved.

The extrication team cut of both doors of the driver’s side to remove the patient, who was reportedly seriously injured. He was airlifted to the hospital.

An investigation is underway.

  1. Thats not the Toms River Lakewood border. Thats a ways into Toms River. Those intersections are increasingly dangerous because traffic not traveling on Vermont often do not heed the stop signs and blinking red lights.

  2. Number #2 your right . This is in Toms River, and not Lakewood . You are correct about vehicles not paying attention to stop signs .
