A driver was airlifted following an accident that left a van overturned on the Garden State Parkway this afternoon, the NJSP confirms to TLS.

The two-vehicle crash occurred around 2 PM at mile marker 134.3 in Woodbridge, and involved a Toyota Camry and Chevrolet van. The van rolled over into the trees, trapping the driver insides, NJSP Sergeant Jeffrey Flynn tells TLS.

The unidentified driver was extricated alert and conscious and flown to University Medical Center with a serious leg injury, Flynn says.

No information was available for the other driver.

Traffic is backed up for miles in both directions due to the crash.
