Two traffic lights that have been the topic of discussion for several years now, are finally happening.
Crews began the installation process of traffic lights at the intersection of Route 9 and Broadway Avenue, as well as at Route 9 and Oak Street.
The traffic lights, expected to be completed this spring, will alleviate heavy back ups in the area.
Additionally, the traffic light at the intersection of Vermont Avenue and Locust Street, is expected to be going live today.
MAZAL TOV! Finally! Hopefully the much needed left turning arrows at Pine and 9, county line rd and 9, Kennedy and 9 will be done soon too!
Still waiting on Williams and James.
Was repaved and striped , but no light yet.
The housing construction at that corner caused a long delay. As usual.
Can someone PLEASE explain to me how in the world this will “alleviate” the traffic woes in the area?
You can put up lights on every street corner it wont help when houses and buildings are being built at the speed of light.. ??!!( excuse the pun)
25MPH speed limit would do the trick, along with red light and speeding cameras. Worked like a charm in Brooklyn.
I don’t know if it will alleviate traffic but it will be more safe. Also the best should be a bridge or two over the lake to forest Ave. So rt 9 can flow better. And two lanes along rt nine.
Where would you suggest a bridge over the lake? Sunset is the only road that may make some sense. But then you’ll add even more backups at Sunset and James, increased traffic on James up to Rt 9, traffic waiting for the light at Sunset and Central and probably a traffic light having to added at South Lake and Sunset. Then how about all this traffic that will be brought to the Sunset rd, Private Way, North Lake Dr area that will destroy the residents quality of life. Widen Rt9 and leave it at that.
they really should build a tunnel so the view isn’t spoiled.
Interesting how it finally happens less than week after they clear trees to build even more on Oak.
