The Brick Township Police Department is recognizing several of its officers following honors received at the CIT-NJ Center of Excellence 11th Annual Awards, highlighting both individual and team achievements in crisis intervention and de-escalation.

Officer John Daly was named Officer of the Year, an award that recognizes his professionalism, compassion, and dedication to Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) principles in the performance of his duties.

In addition, the department received the 2025 Unit Citation Award from the CIT-NJ Center of Excellence, recognizing the collective efforts of officers during a critical incident. The award stems from a September 1, 2025 response involving a suicidal individual, where Officers Daly, Anthony Rossi, and Steven Schocket demonstrated strong judgment, communication, and de-escalation skills.

According to officials, the officers worked together with patience and coordination, ultimately bringing the situation to a safe resolution. The individual voluntarily surrendered and was transported for care without injury.

Police officials said the recognitions reflect the department’s continued commitment to preserving life, supporting individuals in crisis, and serving the community with professionalism and compassion.
