The Brick Township Police Department recently concluded its annual active shooter training, aimed at ensuring officers are prepared to respond to critical emergencies.
The program included high-intensity simulations in which officers responded to scenarios involving an active shooter inside a school. These exercises are designed to test rapid response skills and reinforce procedures for protecting schools, students, and the community.
Alongside the live drills, officers participated in a tabletop exercise, a discussion-based scenario replicating a large-scale incident. The slower format allowed for a detailed review of response plans, policies, and procedures, encouraging critical thinking and collaboration.
The combination of live simulations and tabletop discussions strengthened tactical readiness while promoting teamwork and shared learning between newer officers and experienced veterans. The department emphasized that this approach enhances overall preparedness for real-world situations.
