PHOTOS: Brick PD Conducts Ice and Cold Water Rescue Training

brick 1PHOTOS: Members of the Brick Township Police Marine Unit yesterday conducted an Ice/Cold Water rescue training at Lake Riviera.

The members utilized U-Zip-It suits that were generously donated by the Switlik Parachute Company. These suits allow the officers to be able to enter, and operate in the water during extremely low temperatures. Established in 1920, Switlik Parachute Co. has been owned and operated by the Switlik family for four generations and is known worldwide as a manufacturer of the highest quality sewn and heat sealed inflatable safety and survival products for the aviation, marine, and military markets.

The officers conducted several evolutions during which simulated rescues were completed.

The Brick Township Police Marine Unit, which is comprised of 12 members is under the command of Sergeant Lawrence Petrola, and operates from May through October. They are also available year round for emergency call-outs. [TLS]

  1. That’s very good to know. They look like a very organized and disciplined unit. It’s good to see there are units like that around that Lakewood can call upon in case of an emergency.
