After shattering the car window using a rock, the criminal then burglarized the vehicle, stealing a teacher’s book bag and more.
Other overnight vehicle burglaries were also reported to TLS, though we have not received any other reports of forced entry. Police reports are being made.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Lakewood Police Department.

TLS has had articles of importance to people. WHY do you NOT print the address where the incident took place? Like this article – WHERE??? Was it by me??? Was it by my father??? Was it by my son??? WHERE???
I have the same question. Did this happen to my neighbor? Was I robbed?
This happens every time TLS posts an article. They keep the location a secret.
we need night patrol from LPD. Certain areas can use more than others (so if a guy comes into his affordable housing complex @ 2:30 AM, cops could take note)
Do not leave any valuable items in your car ever
@# 1 – yes I agree.
Very annoying and bad reporting.
TLS – either report properly or don’t report at all.
I think a pole should be taken to evaluate LPD performance….
Did you mean a poll?
On a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 being the highest, I would like to give a 10 to the LPD.
Oish, this is horrible. Now, TLS doesnt need to post the neighborhood but the cops know. And they MUST increase patrols in those ‘hoods. I’m not gonna say where cuz I dont wanna help the crooks. But where I live, this never happens. But in other neighborhoods it does. So the cops should focus there much, much more.
Actually I know where this took place and it is in a neighborhood where B”H this never happened. The car is old, quite dysfunctional and was parked between two other cars. Apparently, this is a shtick that these reshaim do. They probably have two people driving in a car, the passenger scans parked cars, and if they see a pocket book or something else of value they “smash and grab”. They break the window, grab what interests them and are off in a matter of seconds. Moral of the story, don’t leave anything of value in a car.
Don’t leave anything in your car and leave the doors unlocked so they don’t break your windows.
