[PHOTOS BELOW – BY JDN] A delegation of prestigious Rabbonim today headed to Toronto in an effort to raise funds for French Jewish children emigrating to Israel.
The Satmar Rebbe Reb Zalman Leib Teitelbaum, Rabbi Malkiel Kotler, Rav Dovid Feinstein and Rabbi Aharon Feldman will be visiting several well-known Canadian philanthropists in a joint effort to raise money.
The funds will be used for Charedi schools in Israel who are absorbing the influx of young immigrants who have flocked to Israel to escape the terror attacks in France.
The trip is part of a larger effort coordinated by the Kalever Rebbe, who in conjunction with the Skulener Rebbe has been working closely with France’s Jewish community for years.
An estimated $3 million will be raised for a special fund to bolster the Israeli schools, including Chinuch Atzmai institutions, in order to make sure that the newcomers stay within the Charedi school system. It will also finance after-school programming and private tutoring as needed.
“The diversity of the delegation underscores the importance of unity and communal responsibility, with leadership from all facets of the Jewish world joining together to create a financial base so that French immigrants will receive a sound religious education in their new homeland,” a representative said.
The Satmar community is also continuing its efforts to help the remaining members of France’s dwindling Jewish community, working aggressively to ensure that they have food, clothing and other staple items for as long as they remain in France.

What a beautiful thing to care for other Yidden. May I humbly suggest that they do something similar for a fund to help local parents who can’t afford tuition and to help Mosdos cover the shortfalls they have when parents don’t pay their tuition obligations. We can even make the event locally without need for a private jet.
When are they going to Rechnitz in LA?
It’s amazing how Toronto continues to doll out money for (very worthy but) outside causes, while their local mosdos can’t pay their own a decent enough salary to manage in one of the most expensive living environments in North America. Mind boggling.
