PHOTOS: A truckload with thousands of dollars worth of medical equipment was donated to Bikur Cholim of Lakewood this past weekend, made possible by Congressman Chris Smith.
After seeing what Bikur Cholim has provided for the community during the recent Hurricane and Storm, Congressman Smith – through the Gerard Health Foundation, put Bikur Cholim in touch with IMEC – a company which donates health care and other equipment for developing countries.
After a meeting with Bikur Cholim and recognizing the need to equip the volunteer organization with advanced and essential medical equipment, IMEC moved into action.
So on Thursday morning, a truck with hospital beds, patient chairs, hoyer lifts, wheelchairs, crutches, canes, pulse oximeters, oxygen concentrators, nebulizers and additional assorted medical pieces, showed up at Bikur Cholim’s Prospect Street home.
“We are deeply moved and inspired by the things IMEC is doing”, a Bikur Cholim Coordinator tells TLS. “There’s just no words to thank them.”
During the Hurricane and storm which followed, the volunteer organization provided shelter and medical supplies to dozens of Lakewood residents who were unable to fend for themselves. TLS.
I wonder what Chris is going to do to help his other constituents who live in Tent City?

Baruch Hashem! That is really wonderful. Bikur Cholim, Chaveirim, Hatzolah, Chesed, and other groups, too, perhaps… were all amazing during the crisis. So grateful that it is a thing of the past…but for so many, it is not. Please don’t forget those who are still homeless, both here and in NY.
