PHOTOS: Big Losers Take Home Big Money

PHOTOS: After a great night of celebrating in Pennsylvania last night, two big losers took home lots of cash. The greatest loser and grand prize winner of the Lose 4 Autism contest, was Elchonon Goldstein. Goldstein lost 104 lbs and 38.2% of his starting weight. He was awarded the grand prize of $25,000 for losing the largest percentage of original body weight.

The second place winner, was Maier Arm, who was awarded $10,000 for losing 100 lbs.

Together, the participants raised close to $180,000 during the 120 day competition, and lost a total of 2,500 lbs. The average weight loss was 50lbs.

The funds raised will go to the Imrei Binah school.

The Imrei Binah model is a tuition-free center based program that provides speech therapy, occupational therapy (OT) music therapy, physical therapy (PT) and applied behavioral analysis therapy (ABA) alongside an academic model focused on school readiness. The staff-student ratio is 1:1. Through a concentration of individualized curriculums that focus exclusively on autism related challenges, Imrei Binah is maximizing the potential of children with autism so that they can grow to be independent and socially integrated members of society.

  1. This whole contest was so unhealthy for those that joined. Losing 104 pounds in 120 days is a recipe for disaster. In 6 months from now this guy will be more than 104 pounds up. How healthy is that for his heart?

  2. To lose that kind of weight in 4 months is a dangerous idea. It’s not that either of the winners was THAT overweight that they had to go to such an extreme. i

  3. Wow, Elchonon I’m in stunned disbelief shock. U r amazing. I always knew u were talented, but to this extent ?!! Absolutely un-real. I’m also jealous of you. And, of course, plz ignore the silly naysayers comments & postings. Hatzlochah ! DB

  4. I think there should be another contest to see which one maintains their weight loss for the next year. Most guys will probably weigh more than their starting weight & at least that would encourage them to keep it off.

  5. WOW i see some guys are so jeolous they cant fargin anyone! Like I once saw a joke quote “Dear Lord, if you cant make me skinny… can you PLEASE make my friends fat…??” But now i see some ppl are not joking! “weigh” to go!!!

They had a nutritionist (I think his name was Muller) give a presentation about precisely that issue. He spoke about how to keep the weight off long term. It is a big problem but I know that Lose4Autism was very concerned about it.

  7. Mazel Tov Elchonon.

Reminds me of a good joke:
A guy wins a million bucks.
His friend asks him: “What are you going to do with all this money?”
“I’m going to reimburse the loans…”
    “And the rest?”
    “The rest can wait!!”

    Freillichen Purim!
