Authorities this evening are investigating a police-involved shooting.
Sources tell TLS police responded to a home shortly after 9 PM for some type of disturbance.
Upon arrival, a man lunged at police with a knife, prompting the shooting, sources said.
The man was reportedly shot three times.
He was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center. His condition is unknown at this time.
The officer was also transported to the hospital, but was not injured.
The  Ocean county Sheriffs department, Ocean County Prosecutors office and other agencies are investigating.

Thank you to this officer and all of the Jackson PD for putting their lives on the line for our safety. No one wants the trauma of having to shoot someone, even if lawfully so as in this instance. Hope he is well and with his family for the holidays.
