PHOTOS: Agudath Israel and Community leaders meet with Assembly Majority Leader Greenwald to discuss Nonpublic school security

In a momentous meeting this morning, Rabbi Avi Schnall of Agudath Israel, Rabbi Serebrowski of Torah Links in Cherry Hill, Dr George Corwell of the Catholic Conference of New Jersey, as well as other community leaders from Lakewood, met with Assembly Majority Leader Louis Greenwald to discuss Nonpublic school security and transportation funding.

“It was a very productive and positive meeting – we are very grateful to Assemblyman Greenwald and very much appreciate his understanding of our community,” said Rabbi Avi Schnall.

Last year, $7.5 million was allocated for Nonpublic school security funding at a rate of $50 per student. As recent events have shown, these funds are necessary now more than ever.

“The comunity was dismayed when discovering that the governor eliminated all Nonpublic security funds from his proposed budget, but we are hopeful that through the budget process the legislature will reinstate those funds with a much needed increase from the original allocation,” says Rabbi Schnall.
