PHOTOS: The next time you find yourself at Lakewood’s Municipal Court, you will notice a new security measure – a police officer with a metal detector.
The new security measure, which police say comes from the higher courts in Toms River, is primarily to keep guns and other weapons out of the courtroom.
All coming to court will need to be scanned prior to entering the court room.
The feature is already in use at the County Courts.
In the near future, TLS has learned, the portable metal detector wand will be replaced with a permanent metal detector. [TLS]
With all the tickets being handed out these days .I bet every family in lakewood had one house member pulled over in the last month . They are on a ticket frenzy . Please tell me I’m wrong . Has anyone else noticed ? I wish I know how we can stop this abuse . See you in court
The question is why they didn’t have it till now. Most, even small, courts in the state have always used metal detecters
Its very simple break the law get a ticket 2+2=4
Cant bring my Tomahawk .Terrible
The best part of court is they first try the ppl in prison, who have no where to go and make us, who do, have to wait til theyre done & then we start. How sweet.
Hey 123, don’t break the law and you won’t get a ticket. Maybe if people stopped at stop signs, put the phones down, didn’t go 50 in a 25, among other things in this town, then there wouldn’t be a problem. So stop your whining 123
To : 1 – The only people getting tickets are the ones who break the driving laws of the state on NJ (where you live).
2- It wasn’t mandated until now, thats why.
3- Right on man
4- This is not a reservation, no weapons needed.
5- I agree make the prisoners wait, but they get angry if there are late and miss their cable tv, gym time, and meals……lol
Nice job scoop
there is no need for the security at the courts its a waste of money, when was the last time someone was shot in a court room? second there are always court officers in the court room. every little thing that happens all these days all of the sudden needs a law regulating it some how or more gun control.
I bet , if I follow you for five minutes, I would see you do 5 infractions . Pulling someone over for thinking doesn’t have his seat belt when in fact he is , and ticketing him instead on a minor infraction instead of apologizing is infringement , and very frustrating
Just about very car I see in the state of NJ is going about 5mph over the speed limit- techinically everyone is breaking the law to some degree. There are many streets in lakewood where there isn’t even a full car width between the curb and the double yellow line- automatic grounds for a ticket for crossing the double yellow line. I’m tired of hearing the “don’t break the law and you won’t get a ticket” mantra. It’s not based on reality. You must be on a different planet. Now for those that are going 40 in a 25 zone, ignoring theno left turn signs on Madison, rolling through stop signs etc. I am in complete agreement with the above posters.
