A speeding driver eluding Lakewood police left three passengers seriously injured after crashing into a tree, and then fled the scene, TLS has learned.
At approximately 1:40 AM, police say they attempted to stop a vehicle on Cross Street, but the driver failed to stop and took off at a high rate of speed, and they broke off the chase. Jackson police were notified. It turns out the car, a Honda Civic, was unregistered, sources said.
Approximately 10 minutes later, Lakewood police received a call about a single-car crash at the intersection of Lakewood New Egypt and Cross Street, with one person ejected from the vehicle and unconscious. Two others were stuck in the mangled vehicle, and the driver reportedly fled.
Lakewood First Aid responded to the call and extricated the patients from the wrecked car.
The three patients were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, and at least two of them are said to be in critical condition. Police could not confirm their conditions as of 8 AM.
The driver, who is believed to have been drinking, was apprehended and pending charges in the hospital, police said.

The car was simply undocumented.

Actually Ashley,the article reads as two in the car and one ejected at the time police arrived. With the driver fleeing makes four. They do not break it down be it good or bad as you have. And Steve, call a spade a spade. UNREGISTERED. The car can have paperwork giving you all related data but until you pay the piper for those NJ plates. UNREGISTERED.
