Scary to see how vulnerable this type of structure is. It’s really unsafe to build these huge buildings out of wood.

That’s terrible! Were there no fire walls, or do they not really help to prevent a fire from spreading?

From the pictures it looks like only the roofs were damaged. The fire walls prevented the fire from spreading into the apartments themselves.
Glad nobody was seriously hurt. This could have been much worse, Heaven forbid.

That’s why most building codes require masonry firewalls that extend well above the roof.
