Pictured, is Team Lakewood at Bike 4 Chai this evening.
The team raised over $2,300,000, beating all other teams. In total, Bike 4 Chai this year raised over $11,000,000.
The organization, a division of Chai Lifeline, started 15 years ago when Lakewood resident Dovid Egert was barred from bringing his bike onto the bus up to Chai Lifeline’s camp, so decided to bike up.
The next year, approximately 40 bikers joined him.
This year, approximately 650 bikers took part in the 2-day ride.
Is that now Captain Dovid Egert, acting Chaplain in the USA armed forces?
its a shame with many schools can’t pay teachers on time yet we can raise $11 million for this. I guess the priority for children’s education is not so high
schools of lakewood feel thats its “pas nisht” to run such a fundraising campaign and therfor stick to the old school fundraising of dinners and raffles. you got to go out side the box dont blame the khal its time to get creative with your marketing
As a rosh mosad AND a Chai Lifeline beneficiary, I can tell you that this a very worthy cause, and thanks to all who participated and donated.
That being said, priorities are not straight. The emotional tug of sick children gets people’s attention before healthy ones, and the ‘dressing up’ of the fundraiser gets people to give way out of proportion than the cause. People are giving with their hearts and adrenaline, not with their seichel.
Keep giving to Chai Lifeline, but remember to give more to our chinuch system.
This has got to be the most ignorant comment I’ve ever read. bike4Chai raises money to help terminally ill children. I am proud to have donated money to this cause and have personally participated in the ride.
Start a bike-a-thon to raise floose for teachers that haven’t been paid on time. No need to air a grevience against bike-4Chai.
This is amazing!! What a zchus dovid egert has, who could’ve imagined!!
