This morning’s thunderstorm took down a tree and wires, knocking out power to several homes in the Route 88 area, officials said.
The tree came down shortly before 8 AM on Holly Street, also leaving wires sprawled across part of the road.
According to JCP&L, there are over 20 homes without power in the area.
Police have shut the road as they await for DPW and the electric company.

What steer the picture of?
I live on Stirling Ave. it happened before 6am and JCP&L was notified immediately. I even have a screenshot of their website saying est repair time 830am. No boots on the ground yet. The only thing on the ground are the wires and the tree!!
We need to appreciate the electricity when we have it
whenever it goes out for a few hours, all we do is cry and complain instead of taking a lesson and appreciating it when we do have it
sheesh@
YmG38..
It says “estimated” time to have repair…
Don’t worry people. Very soon you will not lose power due to trees taking down the wires. At the rate Lakewood is building and clear-cutting the properties there will not be any trees left to knock the wires down.
Jonathan, any provider with an almost complete monopoly like most utility companies must have the best and fastest customer service. If you want to control me-then give me!
I live in this “new” area now for almost a year and we had way too many “outages”. As paying customers we do have a right for what we signed up for. Asking too much??
Jcpl REPLACED 2 transformers in my area on shaboss morning that blew up due to the wrong size (builder not installing enough to save money)… and they responded fairly quickly and even upped the size it can handle!
Thanks JCPL!!
