The State Forest Fire Service, including a plane, and the Lakewood Fire Department, are battled a brush fire in Lakewood this afternoon.
The fire started around 3 PM, and spread across several acres inside the forest along New Hampshire Avenue near Locust Avenue.
A plane has flown over the fire several times to help ground units bring the fire under control.
As of approximately 4 PM, the fire has been mostly contained.
In an interesting twist, the Lakewood Firefighters had just finished a forest fire course hours earlier together with the same agency.

Why not say where it is so we can avoid that area?
This is why we must build, build, build to avoid these type of fires.
Thanx LFD for ur great work. And thanx fireplane pilot fir sharing ur talents with us. You Rock! !!!
@lakewooder. The reason for not posting the location is for those people that don’t think like you and head to an active scene and interfare with the emergency personnel
Building on every available piece of land will not prevent these fires. You can not prevent fire by building. You will actually make it more of a threat to your surroundings.
Ovaid your my here!
