  1. This is exactly what Lakewood Police need more cop cars. As if Roberts doesn’t donate enough that they need to spend our tax money on it. Just why do they need more cars

  2. If you had an emergency Senora M and an old cop car broke down on the way you’d surely complain why it hadn’t been replaced when necessary! Thanks LPD for your forward thinking and keeping is all safe!

  3. I love all the people that complain. Do u expect the police officers to drive unsafe cars that are always breaking down????….most of the cars have been used much longer than they should have. Get over yourselves already!!!!…crybabies

  4. Hey chochom…they need the cars to do their JOB!. You dont want them to have working safe equipment? , stop paying taxes and dont call them for help, deal with the problem yourself!. See how far that gets ya

  5. If my tax dollars had anything to do with the purchase of one of these shiny new vehicles I would hope to be able to at least ride in one someday.
    Um, scratch that.

  6. Just so you all know these 9 new vehicles replace 2008 Ford Crown Victoria’s that have been running 24/7 365 for years. And yes you can drive a taxi cab for 300k miles but not a first responder vehicle. These are AWD vehicles suitable for our climate and roads.

  7. For those that complain about new police vehicles..as the crown vics get older they get more and more expensive to repair as parts become more scarce. The updated vehicles are produced by Ford specifically for Police or Emergency service workers. The vehs are designed w/safety inmind for both the operator and the “passengers” that ride in the back. The Crown Vics were taken out of production a couple years back and unfortunately they are showing their age and miles..These vehicles are safer, able to give everyone around them more visibility as there are more SUV’s on the road that actually sit higher than the crown vics did.

  8. Mike Romeo your wrong. 08 crn Vics are not growing scarce & parts are available at nausium. Also most parts for the police cars are the same as a regular car. That being said everyone who’s complaining about new cars are just stupid & to be ignored.

  9. Just to put things in perspective how important it is to have a good number of police vehicles and yes…newer and efficient cars on the road – growing up in London years ago, area police stations literally had one or two what they called ‘are patrol cars’ per police station. The rest were back up cars with no lights and no sirens. This is how it was back then – its a little better now…. but when there would be an emergency call you’d see one racing and flashing police car and a minute or two later a few of these back up cars sounding their horn trying to get noticed. And when you’d call 999 (emergency#) they’d tell you we are waiting for an area patrol car to be available- once we do we will send it.
And so the fact our township is well equipped should make everyone want to heap praise on our township officials.

  10. I like how all the supporter for the purchase assume the older car were about to breakdown. Yes we alway assume the worst to justify our position. Those cars last for much longer than 150k. If you need proof, go to any other town in America and see how old the police utilize these vehicles. Maybe they needed to replace some, but all 9. When it’s not your money, it’s easy to spend it.

  11. IF THE CARS ARE RUNNING 24 7 365 DAYS WHY SO LO MILES SOMETHING IS MISSING AND WHY DON’T U LOOK AT HATZLOAH OR FIRE DEPARTMENT THEY HAVE MUCH OLDER VEHICLES

  12. I don’t why everyone is complaining. They just need to raise our property taxes a bit and they have money to pay for it. Wether they are truly needed or not doesn’t make a difference. Gasoline usage on these suvs are high but thats ok. Did you ever notice the police never turn off their engine while officers are takeing a break That’s ok because you are paying for the gas.

  13. Why do stupid comments get passed the moderator? The police put their lives on the line for us every day, and they deserve to have the best vehicles for them to do their jobs. Anyone with a problem with that can pick up and leave Lakewood, and have you tax dollars spent on something else which you’ll complain about.
