PHOTO: Lakewood Mother on Soldier Son in Israel: This is My Son, These are All Someone’s Sons

al idf tlsPHOTO: Alongside a photo of her soldier son in Israel, Mrs. Langert – wife of Committeeman Steven Langert – writes, “This is my son – these are all someone’s sons.”

With Israel at war and the dangers these soldiers are faced with each moment of the day, the mother’s comments gives you a whole new perspective of the war Israel is currently fighting, where every soldier, and civilian, are targets.

American-born Aaron Langert left the United States for Israel about 14 months ago to join the Israeli Defense Force. Aaron, 22, took a leave of absence from his Finance studies at Yeshiva University to join Aish’s Mahal program – a vigorous 12-week program which prepares Americans for the difficult task. Once completed, Aaron joined the IDF as a Chayal Boded. Currently, Aaron is stationed near Gaza.

His parents, like all parents of soldiers stationed around the world, are Davening (praying) for his safety.

His father, Committeeman Steven Langert told TLS, “these boys are protecting all of Klal Yisroel, and they need our Tefillos to protect them.”

Following about ten days of air strikes targeting rocket-launching sites and terror cells, the IDF yesterday launched a ground invasion in Gaza – a much more dangerous phase of the operation, named “Protective Edge.”

“Please Daven for their safety,” says Mrs. Sharon Langert. “Please light Shabbos candles 10 minutes early and say some extra Tehillim.” [TLS]

  1. Aron keep up the gr8 work that your doing on behalf of the entire jewish nation we love & miss you, please come back safe,we are all praying for you!!

  2. Steve and Sharon you are courages parents. May Hashem bentch you and may the zechusim that you have by taking care of the Lakewood community be with all you during this seious ordeal

  3. Sharon is 100% right. It should give us pause. It also should remind us, this kid is the biggest askan of all. 1000 x more than any other guy- cuz hes putting his life on the line for another yid, not smiling for the camera w/ Senator or Police Cheif or whatever.

  4. So we can daven for tehillim – we daven for all the boys but we can have him in mind. May Hashem watch over him

  5. To the person who asked my sons name, His full name is אהרון צבי אביגדור בן שפרה רחל. On behalf of my family, I would like to thank all who took the time to comment for your kind and warm wishes. Obviously, we would prefer if Aaron was able to serve his term of duty without fighting breaking out in E’Y but Hashem has different plans. It seems clear to me from the events taking place over the past few weeks that we all need to strengthen our ahavas yisroel. Hashem should bless us with the wisdom to love and treat all Jews equally, no matter what they look like.

  6. He is the one standing in the middle with what appears to be 2 weapons sticking up from his backpack. May Hashem watch over all our BOYS and bring them all home safe to their families. Thank you Ahron for your courage is amazing.

  7. Sharon and Steve- you are my inspiration! Piggybacking on your ahavas Yisroel plea- I beg everyone to pause for a moment and think that if a Nazi or Arab terrorist walked in to a shul, shiur or simcha the first thing to cross their mind would be JEWS! When we ourselves walk into a shul, shiur, or simcha what is the first thing that we think about? (She’s too yeshivish, she’s wearing such a long shaitel/short skirt, she’s X, Y, Z…) As a zechus for our soldiers’ safety let’s take upon ourselves to stop judging each other! Let’s walk into such events with one focus- MY SISTERS! MY BROTHERS! WE ARE ONE FAMILY! אחינו בני ישראל

  8. Is it ok if I add Aaron’s name to the Shmira Project so that he can be paired up with a specific individual to pray on his behalf? Of course, I will continue to Daven on his behalf as well.
