On Thursday, March 13, Lakewood High School hosted its first Top Chef Competition. 15 students and 6 staff members created cuisine inspired by four themes: Around the World, Under the Sea, Candy Land, and Four Seasons.
Teams met over a duration of 4 weeks to create a memorable night for the over 200 people who attended.
Students worked on team building skills, while learning valuable culinary art skills.
$800 was raised for a Sodexo scholarship to be given to a Lakewood High School Senior who will be pursuing a career in Culinary Arts. Sodexo graciously donated all of the food, supplies, and professional chefs for the event.
Andrea DeJohn, Guidance Counselor at Lakewood High School who participated on the Four Seasons team, whose team won the Best Appetizer portion stated, “this event was one that brought the school and community together in order to raise money for a good cause.” She added that she “enjoyed working with students for which she has already known as well as meeting new ones while building friendships with new staff members.” [TLS]
