PHOTO: Lakewood gets about 5 inches of snow in first storm of the season; Police Chief Greg Meyer urges residents to stay off the roads

img_1243Statement from Police Chief Greg Meyer:

“Please remain off the roads this evening to allow for snow removal and for first responders to respond to calls for service. Keep cars off of main streets so that plows may get through. Roads are very slick and icy due to the low temps.

It is not recommended to drive as snow is very deep in places. Cars that become stuck or left abandoned will be towed to make roads clear for plows. Do not attempt to pass a snow plow or a car traveling slower. Allow plenty of room to stop. Stay off the roads tonight”

  6. Driving around a bit I can’t help be surprised by all these positive comments. My area definitely wasn’t plowed well. Are we living in the same town?

  8. Gr8 job
    Plows around all day
    Where is the story about the unbelievable job the township did let’s let them know we all appreciate the hard work ;

  9. I’m in the Monmouth higher numbers area. I did see the plows doing a good thorough job though I also observed plows at times hauling huge leaf piles that have been sitting there for over three months to the sidewalk with the snow. This isn’t one or two leaf piles but very many of them. There was a car on Monmouth and eleventh that was blocked in its driveway by leaves pilled up against the car from the plows and the driver spent half hour shoveling the leaves away tonight.
    Although leaf pickup was done, a better job needs to be done next year as not to miss so many piles. I think all will agree this is a fair request. In addition they take up parking spaces and are eye sores regardless of the snow. It’s January!
