PHOTO: Veteran Lakewood firefighter Joe Siverio was sworn in as the Lakewood Fire Department’s new 2nd Assistant Chief. Department members and friends looked on as Siverio was sworn in by his friend and Ex Chief Richard “Dick” Wallace during a department meeting last night.
Siverio’s move into the position of 2nd Assistant comes after the recentlt implemented Garcia law took effect, leaving the position open after the Chief stepped down. As a result, the 1st Assistant Chief Steve McNamara moved into the Chief’s position, and 2nd Assistant Chief Michael D’Elia Jr. moved into the position of 1st Assistant Chief.
Siverio is from Station 64, and has been a member for over 20 years. [TLS-85/TLS-CCP]
Good luck Joe.

Congrats Chiefie, You deserve it brother!!
were the new commissioners sworn in too??
This election was for replacement of a fire chief in the local fire dept. It had nothing to do with the board of fire commissioners.
Congratulations Joe siverio, best of luck your gonna make a great chief for Lakewood NJ
Congratz Joe, look foward to working with ya in the future, best of luck my friend.
No #5 the new commissioners are not firefighters thus they will not be afforded time in the firefighte’rs meetings. They can be sworn in at their own meetings.
Congratulations Joe, Had the pleasure of serving with him in the fire dept. He will do an excellent job.
