PHOTO: A driver was injured and trapped in her vehicle after a crash which took out a utility pole and wires early this morning.
About 1 AM, police say the driver fell asleep at the wheel, causing her to crash into a utility pole at the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and Ronald Road. The impact of the crash knocked down the old, sending live wires on top and around of her vehicle.
EMS and Lakewood First Aid responded to the scene, but were unable to remove the injured driver due to the risk of electrocution, officials said.
About twenty minutes later, JCPL arrived on scene and shut the power to the wires, allowing for emergency personnel to remove the victim, an official said.
The woman was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center with multiple injuries.

20 Minutes later ??????????????
That’s a long time
expect better from an electric co.?
I would like to think that power companies have an emergency response vehicle for situations like this, with a response time akin to ambulance care.
Sorry. Can’t blame jcp&l for this. I don’t think they’re expected to be like an ambulance. 20 minutes is fine
