This snapping turtle was spotted on Route 9 near Central Avenue today.
The reptile, which can grow up to about 18 inches and 35 pounds, when feeling threatened can become extremely aggressive and cause severe bodily harm.
According to Wikipedia, “Lifting the turtle with the hands is difficult and dangerous. Snappers can stretch their necks back across their own carapace and to their hind feet on either side to bite. Also, their claws are sharp and capable of inflicting significant lacerations.”

Glad it got across the road in one piece!
Turtle was moving faster than traffic.
why not? The cars weren’t moving anyway!!
A question though remains. Why did it cross the road?
Got through Rt 9 quicker than me with a car!
… To visit the chicken.
there is one the lives near one of the walking bridges across from A Country Place. They are mean little critters; don’t ever go close to check it out or allow anyone else to either!!
