7. Um, not all gedolim are against it. Some are very much for it. Either way, its a horrible thing that they’re forcing Yeshiva boys to sign up, when, strategically, the very last thing the IDF needs is a bunch of out-of-shape yeshiva Bochurim joining the infantry.

As someone living in Israel for 10 years and watching not only from the sidelines but from the front lines as well, I am so disturbed when I hear the comments about how this is not going against our Gedolim. Excuse me, but R’ Shteinman and R’ Chaim have given very clear guidelines about registering for a PITUR (deferrment)!!! For those that babble without knowing, the last thing the IDF wants is yeshiva bochurim. All they are asking is for EERYONE to register with the IDF and NEVER EVER in the history of the medina here as a yeshiva bochur with the status of one given by the military offices been asked to serve!! This is all one big farce!!!! The blatant chillul Hashem and zilzul gedolim is positively frightening. And yes, I am so happy to see that one bus with bored souls went to this and not more. Lakewood!!! Open your ears to what our UNIVERSAL Gedolim say!!! They are the Eini Haeida and must be followed! May R’ Shteinman have a refuah sheleima b’karov and help us hopefully merit to see Moshiach soon!
