Petirah of Reb Yosef Aharon Rubin Z”L

We regret to inform you of the Petirah of Reb Yosef Aharon Rubin Z”L, a Holocaust survivor and Lakewood resident who was Niftar on Shabbos. He was 93.

Reb Yosef Aharon Z”L, lived in Boro Park for many years, and for the last while in Lakewood. He was a devoted member and eventual president of Congregation Bnei Yehuda in Boro Park, and from the first Frum families in Brooklyn.

Reb Yosef Aharon Z”L was very Makpid to keep up his Learning schedules, up until approximately a month ago. He was a constant attendee by Rav Apter’s Shiur, and was Mechayev the younger crowd to never miss a Shiur.

His sons are R’ Moshe (Staten Island), R’ Yaakov Tzvi (Lakewood), and R’ Eliezer (Miami Beach). His daughter, Mrs. Bluma Tessler, lives in Yerushalayim.

He leaves behind hundreds of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The Levaya will be taking place at 1:30 PM Sunday at the 7th Street Chapel, 613 Ramsey Street.

  1. A very special yid; He did so much for Bnai Yehuda. A sign of his gadlus is the kavod and hisbatlus he showed for the Rav.

    • Indeed… Indeed as someone who grew up and davened in Bnei Yehuda, I can tell you he will sorely be missed. HE was a paragon of chashivus a man who radiated warmth and incredible simcha, despite witnessing it all, a tremendous supporter and mainstay of that special Shul on the corner of 16th & 53rd.

Yes…remember as a kid he used to announce the simchos in shul with such joy and happiness for the baal simcha. he wore a smile on his face as he stepped up to the podium to make the announcements. always checked with the rav shlit”a or rabbi emert z”l before doing or saying anything…he will be missed.

  4. wow I remember when bnei Yehuda was a weekday minyan factory, it was a main shul in boro park,there at 53rd and 16th I remember the famous 730shabbos minyan downstairs that Mr. Maishy Kushner still runs, and Mr. Rubin was one of the leaders, he will be missed by everyone!
