A real loss. From the chashuvim of the old time boro Park. Together with his wife A”h they did much chesed and were the go to people for those that had no one else. They raised a beautiful family that follows in their footsteps.
A real tzaddik. His hacnosas orchim and kiruv were legendary. Many individuals became baalei tsuvas because of his warmth and caring. Issues that today’s generation has no clue about. There was a time Maimonides hospital refused to hire Orthodox Jews. Yes Maimonides in Boro park. It was Moshe Brown who organized protests that opened the doors for orthodox therapist to be hired. This was back in the early 1970s. Whenever issues arose it was Moshe who led the way to help yidden with issues. He believed in every yids potential. I witnessed many teenagers who came from homes where parents were not shomer shabbos yet by coming week after week to Moshe’s house for a most incredible shabbos experience ended up in yeshivash and changing their lives to one of Torah.
As a friend and former neighbor I am privy to countless acts of chesed Reb Moshe did bhatznea leches, in a very quiet unassuming way. A varmer yid, whose face radiated with true simchas hachayim. While he was a teacher by profession, he personified and demonstrated Torah by action and deed. He didn’t have a big house but a big heart. He gave of himself to people that no one would want to deal with. Even in his senior years, he was always doing. As a gifted writer and artist, he used his talents to express and elucidate Torah ideas. He excelled at kiruv rechokim and kiruv kerovim. Growing up in such a home, it is no wonder that his children do so much for the klal. Reb Moshe was an inspiration to me and Im sure to countless others.
Just got back from the levaya.A true adam gadol and Adam hashalim. A yid who dedicated his life to helping others. Its a zchus to have known someone of his caliber. My memories of his pleasant disposition will carry me through the darkest of times. Definitely a unique individual who accomplished so much. May his family and friends perpetuate his memory by continuing in his ways.
