Petirah of Reb Kolman Krohn Z”L [UPDATED]

We regret to inform you of the Petirah of Reb Kolman Krohn Z”L of Lakewood, who was Niftar today following an illness. He was approximately 70 years old.

Reb Kolman Z”L was a renowned Talmid Chochom and Baal Mussar, as well as longtime Gabai Tzedakah.

A resident relayed to TLS the following story he remembers about Reb Kalman.

Approximately 28 years ago, as this resident was about to go up for Birchas Kohanim, he noticed he had a hole in his sock. Reb Kolman passed by and noticed something was wrong, and asked the Kohen if everything was okay. The Kohen responded that he was about to Duchen, but he had a hole in his sock. “Without hesitation, Reb Kolman sat down, took off his shoes, and gave me his socks. This was the type of man he was,” he said.

The Levaya will tentatively be taking place at 9:15 AM at BMG’s Yoshon building. Kevurah in Eretz Yisroel.

Baruch Dayan Ha’emes.

What ?! I cant believe it. R’ Klaman was a real Tzaddik. His Mussar Vaadim were the real thing, no sugar-coating and “munning” from the oilam Avodah, Torah and Yiras Shamayim. This is a huge loss for Klal Yisroel. BD”E.

He was a great Tzadik
In all ways Torah ,Yiraas
Shmayim , Middos Tovos

He taught me 35-40 years ago how to memorize 613 Taryag Mitzvos. He use to ask me

” Nu do u remember The Taryag Mitzvos that my Friend Benny taught me when I was younger”

Rav Kalmon ZTL did not take credit for it he was nohag pashtus with anevus.
Eventhough he himself tought it to me.

Whenever we bumped into each other he used to say how’s my good old friend from Camp Agudah.
He made me feel like his best friend for years

I’m mamesh in shock. First of all I gad no idea he was sick. Secondly, R’ KAlman was such a Tamim, a real Tzaddik. His Vaadim were Mulei Yiras Shamayim. His askunis was legendary. And His Shvuos nights were amazing. It started with boys but by the time it got to the 2nd or 3rd break there were more & more Totty’s there. MAmesh awe-inspiring. This is a huge loss for Lakewood B’Prat & Klal Yisroel Bichlal. TNTB”H
