I think this is the unbelievable masmid who learned in Slabodka before coming to Lakewood. A pure genuine ben Torah. His mother was from the famed Kaufman family of Gateshead. Fabulously good head, and no airs about himself. All his life he kept a low profile but it was a real privilege to have known him. Perhaps some of his חדושים will be publicized.

I knew him growing up

I grew up in Toronto and used to see him as a child. Always learning, always carried himself as a talmid chochom, and ben Torah. He will be sorely missed.

Tragic. He was an inspiration to anyone that saw him. He had a profound impression on me in my youth, as an example of what a Talmid Chochom looks like. I remember seeing him excitedly run over to ybl”c Rav Shlomo shlit”a to show him a point he wanted to make from a Mishna B’rura in Eruvin . He was a real ben Torah, someone I greatly admired and envied.

This loss is a loss for the entire Torah world. He was a rare giant in all aspects. This was not merely a community or city loss but a loss of one of the premier low key tzaddikim of our entire generation.
