Petirah of Rabbi Shlomo Lankry Z”L

We regret to inform you of the Petirah of Rabbi Shlomo Lankry Z”L, a renowned Rav and Askan in Brooklyn.

Originally from Morocco, Rabbi Lankry moved to the United States to give his children a Frum education.

In Brookly, Rabbi Lankry built up a Sefardi community, a oversaw the Sefardi Chevrah Kadisha for over 50 years. He was in his eighties.

He leaves behind his wife Zhava, and his children Rabbi Aron (Rav in Monsey), R’ Moshe, (Lakewood), Miriam, Mrs. Emely Antar, and Mrs. Eede Mizrahi.

The Levaya is scheduled to take place at 3:00 PM this afternoon at 1848 East 7th Street, Brooklyn, with Kevurah in Eretz Yisroel.

  1. Rabbi Lankry. What can I say. He always had a smile on his face and a go-to disposition. He always had that Morrocan-Sephardi attitude, “Let’s Go!”. Aside from all the Zechut he had from overseeing the community’s Chevra Kadisha, he had the first Sephardi oriented Judaica store on Kings Highway where he sold items that you could not get anywhere else. Sephardic Tzitzit, Talitiot, Tefillin, Sefarim…. He would patiently show us how to knot the Tzitizit. He often hosted Rav “Rebbe David” Pinto in his house and I also spent many Shabbatot there. Rabbi Lankry, Rabbi Lankry so full of love, so humble. We will miss you and surely you are a Melitz Yosher for all of K’lal Yisrael.

  3. JUST FROM KNOWING HIS 2 BEAUTIFULL SONS, THAT WARM KIND HEARTED OWNER OF PIZZA PLUS THAT ALWAYS IS SO FRIENDLY, AND WEARS A SMILE,AND THE FAMOUS RAV , REB ARON FROM MONSEY, I KNOW THIER FATHER AND MOTHER HAD TO BE SPECIAL PEOPLE!
