Petirah of R’ Shmuel Moshe Holder Z”L

We regret to inform you of the Petirah of R’ Shmuel Moshe Holder Z”L.

R’ Shmuel Moshe Z”L is the father of Ron (Hasandler) Holder of Lakewood. He was 91.

Born in Hungary, R’ Shmuel Moshe was a holocaust survivor, having survived the Dachau, Auschwitz, and Bergen-Belsen camps. He was in the DP camps together with the klausenberger Rebbe.

After the war, he emigrated to Eretz Yisroel, where he was taken in by the Viznitzer Rebbe, Reb Yisrael.

Years later, he served as a teacher at the Hillel Academy and Yeshiva Toras Chaim in Denver.

He is survived by his four children, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ron will be sitting Shiva until 4pm Wednesday afternoon at his home, 180 Sunset Road. Visiting hours will be from 9:30am to 12pm, and will resume at 1:30 to 9pm.

Shachris with Selichos will be at 6am, and Mincha followed by Maariv will be at 6:50pm.

  1. I had Mr Holder as my teacher in Hillel Academy as well as knowing the whole family. The one thing that stands out in my mind was the gentle spirit he had and that he always had a smile. Huge loss.

  2. My sincere condolences to the entire Holder family. Your dad created a garden of beautiful perennial flowers for generations called the Holder family. BDE.
