  1. He was mamesh a Yid a Tzaddik. In his business, importer & wholesaler of fine jewelry and especially hi-quality pearls, he always went out of his way to hire yungerleit looking for a place to break into the business. And his son, R’ Moshe is the biggest working-guy masmid of our dor. Yehi Zichro Boruch.

  2. If I recall approximately 30 years ago he was in Japan (or somewhere in Asia) when there was a major earthquake. Lots of damage. Make a long story short he walked many miles to get to an airport that was still running so he can get home for Shabbos. He was the first person back in the USA from the area of the earthquake, and the major press corps covered his return back. If my memory serves me correct one of the Visions of Greatness books has the story. I remember him from Monsey.

One small correction. I believe the son in-law is Ebstein not Epstein.

  3. He also published the seforim of his father who was a choshuve Hungarian Rav who was dayan of kehal adas yeshurun in Washington heights. He was extremely devoted to the menorah of his father. 1
