We regret to inform you of the Petirah of Dr. Leon Schwartz Z”L following an illness.
Dr. Schwartz Z”L was a renowned Baal Chesed in Philadelphia who was known to each family who visited CHOP hospital, and served together with his wife and children as a hub for Chesed.
During Covid, unfortunately many more patients became familiar with Dr. Schwartz Z”L, and he and his wife Malkie and children worked around the clock on behalf of patients, ensuring they received the utmost care in and around the Philadelphia area.
“Dr. Shwartz was a true pillar of Chesed, constantly going the extra mile in his trademark way,” Rabbi Yehuda Kaszirer, Director of Lev Rochel Bikur Cholim said. “He was the perfect blend of compassion, dedication and professionalism. May his special neshama have an aliya and may his wife and children have the koach to continue his legacy of avados hakodesh.”
“They literally would reach out to every patient to make sure they have everything they need,” said another Askan close with the family. “The amount of Chesed these people do is incredible.”
He leaves behind his wife Malkie, children Yoni, Rachael, Shaul, Moshe, Zeesil, Yakov and Dovid.

Baruch Dayan Ha’emes.
The saddest new I have heard in along time. Dr. Schwartz and his Rebetzin were the first and last stop for for countless patients and their families. They didn’t know the word NO. They didn’t know the question of how and where. They just moved mountains and valleys to make sure the needs and wants of anyone and everyone who called on them were answered and resolved.
They raised the most beautiful of families. One cannot fathom what these 2 partners accomplished, bringing up the sweetest and most devoted children to Hashem and his Torah. One can lose their mind watching their children daven, learn, and speak to any person with the sweetness, care and honesty that is just sometimes lacking in our empty world. What a loss. And so sad for this amazing amazing family.

Dr Leon Schwartz and his Rebbitzen Chesed that the Lakewood community received is incomprehensible . Every Man should learn Illuy Nishmas Arye Eliezer Ben Yackov Shmuel . For the past 25 plus years every time Dr Shanik sent a child to Chop. He gave them the Schwartz phone number to call on there way. They are the example of Bikur Cholim that every organization has followed and benefited from. Before during and after Covid.

Words can not describe the Schwartz’s. I knew Malkie’s brother Yuddy Z”TL and her parents Z”TL.
The chesed that they did was not to be belived.
Dr. Schwartz or Leon as we called him, was moser nefesh for the Rebono Shel Olam. He was a true Eved Hashem. I remember when he first married Malkie, he would walk over 1 hour each way multiple times on a shabbus to daven in the yeshiva. Rain, snow, nor the neiborhood he would walk throu did not stop him. He was not the last one in and the first one out either. He was from the Easorah Reshonim.
May he be a Mailitz yousher for Malkie, his children, the city of Philadelphia and all of us in klal yisroel.
May we be zoche to the arrival of Moshiach alredy and dance with him in the Bais Hamikdush.
