Pesky Missionaries Continue To Distribute Their ‘Unwanted Trash’ To Frum Residents

PHOTO: With the amount of arsenal in the pictured truck, a lot of homes will be getting a ‘free gift’ today. The pesky and desperate missionaries are back in town this morning, distributing their ‘unwanted trash’ – as many residents put it, to Frum neighborhoods and obviously not getting the message – despite being told numerous times that their material is unwanted.

The material, which appears to be a Jewish packet, are from the Israel Restoration Ministries – a missionary organization.

The packet contains books and CDs from Tom Cantor and others.

They were seen in the area of 14th Street, Negba Street and in other neighborhoods.

According to Rabbonim, one is to immediately discard the material.

A missionary with a pushcart brought his wares to a midwestern university and proceeded to distribute it to any students to whom he could. This came to the attention of the Lubavitcher Shaliach at the university. The Shaliach took a large black garbage bag, affixed it to some kind of hoop, and trailed the missionary all around the campus, all the while bellowing, “Put trash where trash belongs!”

Naturally, the missionary activity ceased.

You may not agree with their religion. You may not agree with their “outreach” methods, but it is not appropriate to refer to another religions texts as “unwanted trash”

Well said #2..please.
I love the end of the article which states..”According to Rabbonim, one is to immediately discard the material.” (moderated) I will be very surprised if this gets posted with all the sensoring the ‘scoop’ does. Have a nice day.

#2 its garbage plan and simple, they are trying to convert people. we have our own religion and are happy with it. why do they have to push their religion onto ours.
we don’t go around pushing our religion on others they are purposely going to jewish house. WHY?

What are you so afraid of? Stand firm in your faith and thank them for caring enough to try to save you. That’s what they think they’re doing. You could use it as a springboard to discussion that might convert them to Judaism. How many times did G-d instruct his children to “Fear not”. Get a grip, people.

This is a free country with free speech. These people are welcome to do what they want. You can kindly tell them you are not interested. Why are people not saying anything about collectors who constantly knock on our doors to no end and sometimes harass us. I love giving tzedakah. But lets not forget that we are all people and we all share this world.

#4:”WE have our own religion and are happy with it”. Please do not use the WE because you do not speak for everyone in the community. A correct use of WE is as follows: We are in America and in America WE cannot only choose our religion but can change our religion at anytime.

#2

What would North Dover residents say if I and friends would go to their homes and places they frequent and distribute Jewish materials?

These idiots intentionally come to Orthodox Jewish areas-it is not right.

i really hope that one day you dont stumble upon someone of the opposite faith, calling inanimate objects from your faith = “TRASH”.

i think you will be very hurt, and certainly will think back to a time when all you wanted was to be respected, accepted, and equal.

By calling someones else’s religious material “trash” you speak volumes about your intolerance for others.

Please mr conservative. We q respect others religios views and beliefs but we could expect them to respect ours. Missionary activity by definition means they think our religion is a mistake and they have come to show us the right path. Hence our feelings of mutual disrespect for their views.
Simply put they are distributing trash.

#2 I understand your strong convictions, and no, you don’t push your religion on others. What precise “religion” are these “missionaries” ? The label does not necessarily mean they are bringing sound biblical teaching even in the Christian faith, and we would reject them, too. But, since they also have strong convictions, we should be polite in so doing. Shalom

Mr. Conservative seems to be a bitter Jew who has an identity crisis. Always looking to stab his people any way he can.

As for people calling it trash; it is simply their way of venting their frustration at people stuffing this stuff down their throats practically.

I think if they have been asked nicely, over and over again that they should be courteous and not continue to distribute their material where it is clearly not wanted. This is America and everyone has rights, but I just think enough is enough.

Is there any way we can all get together and have a round table discussion about these very important topics? Would TLS be willing to sponsor such a discussion?
