One person is dead after being struck following an overturn accident with an in Lakewood, officials tell TLS.
Shortly after 1:00 AM this morning, police received a call about a vehicle overturned on Route 70 near Vermont Avenue in Lakewood.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel found a patient, later identified as 23-year-old, Yosimar Quirozcisneros of Lakewood, lying unconscious in the roadway.
According to information obtained by TLS, it appears Quirozcisneros had been involved in an overturn accident after striking the median. Following the accident, it appears the driver got out of the overturned vehicle and was then struck by another vehicle which was unable to stop in time. The second vehicle also struck the overturned vehicle.
Quirozcisneros was transported to MMCSC in Lakewood, where he died.
The passenger of the second vehicle, a 20-year-old from Toms River, was transported to JSUMC with several injuries, police say.
An investigation is underway.
Sad and unnecessary loss of life. But you really can’t blame Lakewood traffic or ‘Lakewood’ drivers for this tragic accident.
Since cars can’t drive themselves, who can 1 blame? Undoubtedly, this is poor vehicle control.
I heard htzls nifasjoes was first on seen
Really elul!!!!!!!!
Tragic So young
This whole story is confusing and hard to understand.
If you are driving and you see a vehicle in front of you completely overturned, why in the world would anyone in his right mind fly right by.
I would hope that pure common sense means to slow down to a full stop and call 911 and this way for sure there will be no mistakes of hitting anyone as you are passing.
I know that Lakewood has sometimes accidents but thank God here in Lakewood the students will never ever just drive by an accident at the same speed.
I know that some people will say that if you are not an EMT, it’s better to move on.
There is nothing wrong if a person drives by an accident at 5 mph because it’s night time and he wants to make sure that he doesn’t run over anyone and he can come to a full stop 75 feet away and call 911.
Unfortunately people here are just too impatient. I live near a bad corner and am on the phone calling LPD immediately after the bang. Until they arrive (and even after they arrive) the amount of people blasting their horns because others have properly slowed down is amazing. There have been many secondary accidents as well due to impatience. You go to see if you can help and people are blowing through the red light almost running you over. Then my cul de sac turns into a three ring circus with people speeding through to try to bypass the traffic.
The article is not confusing. You kust need to hone your reading compression skills and get some common sense.
You really think someone plowed into an overturned car and struck a pedestrian in the dark at 1 in the morning because they weren’t interested in stopping to call 911??!!
Judging by the tremendous amount of damage to both vehicles, I think it’s safe to say that speed had a lot to do with it. I’ve had people fly past me on a weekday at 80+ MPH. I am amazed there aren’t more accidents.Since this accident took place around 1 in the morning, it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume that both vehicles were flying. If somebody crashes into the median, gets out of their vehicle and is in the road, there is no way that another vehicle, which likely was traveling at a high speed or even the posted speed limit of 50 would be able to avoid hitting the other driver. As it is, it’s difficult to see if someone is in the road in the dark. I feel bad for the driver who struck that person. They will likely need a lot of therapy after being involved in such a traumatizing event. It’s a sad situation all around.
I was nearby when I heard the initial crash. I started to head towards the Parkway on 70 East. While driving, I approached the young man who was leaning against the concrete barrier with a phone in his hand and a the car that was wheels up. I had slowed down enough to ask him if he was okay and then proceeded to make a right onto Vermont and then made a K- turn to proceed toward the traffic light. I needed gas from Wawa. I was on the Bluetooth in my car with my husband when he asked me what was going on. I told him that there was an overturn. As I was sitting at the traffic light at Vermont and 70, I saw the Lexus hit the black car. Moments later, a Wawa trailer truck hit both the Lexus and black vehicle. At that point, the young man was no longer in my view. I freaked out and tried calling 911 but was so in shock at what I just had seen, I just couldn’t figure out how to work my phone. When the light turned green, I proceeded to drive across 70 into Wawa.
I looked to my right and there were first responders heading towards the accident. From what I had witnessed and in my opinion, with the combination of the overturned being a dark colored vehicle and the darkness outside, it may have made it impossible to see the car until the last minute, and they both were not speeding. I feel so bad for the young man who lost his life.
I was nearby when I heard the noise from the initial accident. I jumped on 70 East to take the Parkway. I know I needed to stop by and grab some gas and knew the Wawa on 70 and Vermont was on the way. While driving on 70, I noticed a young man leaning up against the concrete divider (70 West). I slowed to ask if he was okay because I also noticed that the car he was standing near was upside down. I proceeded to make a right onto Vermont and made a K-turn to proceed toward the traffic light at 70 and Vermont. I kept the young man in my view until the Lexus crashed into the black car. Moments after that, a Wawa truck crashed into both vehicles. I was in shock. I somehow managed to cross over 70 and turned into Wawa. I just couldn’t believe what I had saw. It was so sad.
