After being called for multiple flat tires at Westgate this evening, Chaveirim discovered that it wasn’t merely a mistake, but someone had purposely placed thousands of nails on the Westgate roads in order to cause grief for motorists.
Chaveirim coordinators tell TLS thousands of nails were placed at both entrances to Westgate, as well as in middle of the 1,000-plus family development and shopping center some time over Shabbos, causing multiple flats.
But hundreds of more flats were prevented when Chaveirim came to the rescue. At first, Chaveirim members attempted to use strong magnets to clear the roads, but after realizing they were aluminum nails, the members used leaf blowers and brooms to sweep the nails out of the roadway. TLS-89/TLS-CCP.
I hope the police were called…
#1
yes they were called and they got flats also and no you cannot get fingerprints off of a nail.
I have a nail in my tire. Never dreamed someone did it intentionaly.
I hope they catch them
there are video cameras in the neigborhood- the shopping center– prob the mikva, its worth a shot–
Otherwise they’ll be back in another place-
if they find it was antisemitism maybe the people with flats will get some $$ for it
hooray for chaverim – coming through once again
Here is what i do not understand. WHY DONT WE HAVE MORE PATROLS OVER SHABBOS?? How come each motzo shabbat i go on tls and see another bias incident or a house robbed??
I hope they nail the guy !
This is a Nail Biter…..
you nailed it..
My 25 dollars from American express went to the mechanic!!!….I needed a New Tire!!!…….
WESTGATE RESIDENTS:
PLEASE COMPLAIN TO THE OFFICE AND TELL THEM TO PUT CAMERAS ON BOTH SIDES OF WESTGATE.
Simple. To have more patrol they need more cops.
chaverim shld start patrolling then mb we will some arrests they always come thru in everything they do ty guys
Um! That’s why my wife’s Odyssey got the 2nd nail within 2 weeks in which they were plugged for about $10 ea.; I hope that sonei is caught
b’ karov.
Very simple just put camras up ….
Lcsw has shabbos patrols but you people refuse to support them so in hence slamming the nail in your own coffins , hahahaha
We have it’s Daily from contractor vehicles. East 4th, east 5th…
I had 3 flat tire in one year.
people get nails in there tires all the time but when someone purposely lines the street with nails there are doing it for one purpose only to cause people pain. the people who did this hate the yidden and want to get back at us. maybe we need to start acting properly when we are driving and in public so that others don’t get a bad taste from us.
could be un intentional. some of these contractors have things hanging off the back of their trucks all the time. Especially with all the repairs being made because of the hurricane.
you’ll know if it keeps happening or it stops
i believe that they’ll catch the guy even if there’s no evidence. police get special training to catch these people.
its almost impossible to catch them the cameras are too far away and you will never get west gate to put cameras by the entrances we are lucky we have a shul big enough for a quarter of west gate
SLOWDOWN made you slow down
West Gate won’t even put in proper address signs e.g. easily identified, night lighting, etc. Can’t tell how many times addresses are mixed up. Mail, delivery, even tomchei shabbos ( caused needless embarrassment ). Even worse, emergency personnel are confused. Spoke to firemen etc who say this is a difficult neighborhood and takes them extra time to find the right homes ( not everyone can weight outside; home alone, etc).
Bottom line, forget cameras…
I am very concerned over this incident. It is a shame that there are persons who would do such a thing to cause harm to others. This article seems to imply that the nails were just blown or swept away to another part of the roadway rather than being completely taken away. If anyone can clarify this for me please do so. If the nails were just swept to the roadside, they will make their way back to the roads with the next snow storm when the plows go through. We all have to be vigilant in the future for suspicious activities in the area.
