(Reposted) The Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office is asking the Lakewood Community that if you are planning to have a Lag Ba’omer fire on Saturday night May 1 or Sunday May 2, 2010, you must submit a permit application with a $42.00 fee to the Office by 4:00 PM on Thursday April 29, 2010 so that the staff can visit the sites prior to the fires commencing, to make sure they meet all of the bonfire requirements and make notice to the Lakewood Police and Fire Depts. You must also contact the NJ Forest Fire Service for a Burn Permit 609-726-9010. For your convenience, we are providing an Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office Permit Application and Bonfire Regulations . They can be dropped off at the Office at Ocean County Park 659 Ocean Ave Lakewood. “We are asking that you follow the regulations and set up a 10’ – 15’ safety area around the bonfire (depending on the bonfire size) for protection of the attendees to watch the fire safely. Also you must use clean wood and do not start the fire until a Fire Marshal has inspected your site and given approval to light it”, the Fire Marshal’s Office said.
They added “Anyone who does not have an approved Permit will have their fire extinguished and can be subject to penalties for the extinguishment.” If you have any questions please call the Office at 732-370-7360 Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 PM.
now lets hope no one builds an unauthorized bon fire
WHAT A RIPOFF DOES THE OCFM REQUIRE A CHURCH TO FILE A PERMIT FOR AN OUT DOOR BAR BEQUE????
OR COOKOUT???
GRANTED OUR FIRES ARE BIGGER BUT THE FEE IS THE STICKING POINT WE PAY ENOUGH TAXES HERE NOT TO HAVE TO BE NICKLED AND DIMED FOR ANY SERVICE WE RECEIVE
a bon fire is not a cook out and is more dangerous
parents please hide your matches, lighters and fire stimulants and make them inaccessible to your kids. this time of year our children often get carried away with the excitement of bonfire season and try to do it on their own. in past years several incidences have occurred around town where young kids are busy making their own small fires. this can lead to disastrous results such as forest fires, homes burning and people getting hurt. Burn injuries are really not fun.
#2 the requirements are county wide not just Lakewood. Anyone building a BONFIRE should have the good SENSE to comply.
why fires , give your kids bags and let them clean lakewood up
the requirements are statewide and the permit fees are set by the State of NJ. If it is going to be a hardship to follow the rules, don’t have your bonfire.
Editor; can you please correct the spelling of the word TWO?
Thanks
great! All my plans just went up in smoke…
To # 8. Thanks.
To # 2,
now that you have STOPPED SCREAMING your right we should not have to be nickled & dimed.
1. Tell hatzalah that you pay way to much taxes I should not have to pay my $104 this year.
2. tell your shul that I don’t have to pay your membership this year or if you don’t have membership, pay for your aliyas.
3. tell the class mother of ALL your children that you don’t want to give a present to the rebbi or teacher by chanukah or purim…
4. tell the tutor that helps your children that you don’t want to pay him.
should I go on. If you want to light a BBQ go right ahead, if you want to start a big fire you need a permit & a permit has a fee. If you don’t like that fee call your governor (or as the article above says maybe your next president) and complain. Untill then Light the fire with a permit (-$42.00 from your pocket) or take the chance and if you get caught you might have to spend sometime behind bars.
YOU CHOICE.
To everyone else enjoy yourselves and BE SAFE.
