A pedestrian suffered severe injuries after being struck by a vehicle early this morning in Lakewood, as reported on our news alerts at the time.

At around 1 AM, a vehicle was driving down John Street between Route 9 and Martin Luther King Drive, when sources say the pedestrian walked into the road.

The vehicle’s mirror struck the unidentified man, who then slammed into the passenger window, falling to the ground unresponsive, officials say.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and found the man semi-conscious, with a severe head injury, officials said.

After treating the patient for approximately 35 minutes on scene, he was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

Lakewood’s Traffic Safety division, along with CSI are investigating the incident.
