Authorities are looking for the public’s help in locating a vehicle involved in a fatal hit and run accident in Brick.

at about 10:45 PM last night, the Brick Township Police responded to 235 Drum Point Road in reference to an unconscious/unresponsive male subject lying on the front lawn of the residence.  

Based on their investigation, it appeared that the subject had been struck by a vehicle which had fled the scene.  

The victim succumbed was pronounced dead on the scene.  

The Brick Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit responded to the scene to investigate the crash. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Vehicular Homicide Unit responded to assist in the investigation. The Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office along the Sheriff Department’s, Criminal Investigation Unit responded to process the scene.  

 Based on the evidence at the scene, it appears that the person was walking east on Drum Point Road, on the shoulder of the roadway when he was struck from behind by a vehicle traveling eastbound. The hit and run vehicle is believed to be a mid to late 90’s model Dodge 1500 work van. It would have damage to the front passenger side including a broken headlight assembly.  

 The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Sgt. Donnelly, Ptl. Lampiasi and Ptl. Farnkopf of the Brick Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit.
