Passing of Mrs. Helena Sininsky A”H, Holocaust survivor and longtime Lakewood Township employee

We regret to inform you of the passing of Mrs. Helena Sininsky A”H, who was Niftar in Lakewood just before Shabbos.

Helena was a Holocaust survivor, and worked at the Lakewood Township Inspection Department for approximately 25 years, until her retirement in 2012. She was approximately 90 years old.

Mrs. Sininsky was honored by the Township upon her retirement.

“I had one dream, to come to the United State of America”, Helena said then. “Not only did my dream get fulfilled, but here I am tonight standing amongst my friends and all you who are part of my life, and that I have achieved to work for the United States Government. That is one of my biggest accomplishments. I am the richest person, with the friends that are in my life.”

Her Levaya will be taking place at 11:00 AM Sunday at the 7th Street Chapel, with the Kevura in Lakewood.

  1. I met Helina while working at the inspection dept, and we became immediate friends. When my mother in law moved to NJ from NC, her and her husband Gary gave her and her husband their 1st jobs, with her husband working in the Butcher shop, and my mother in law being the childcare provider for Mark and Gwen. They carried that friendship out until the passing of my mother in law 3 years ago. She will truly be missed by the Strand family.
