Paskesz Candy Company: Tinglers Have Always Been Kosher

tinglers[LETTER] Following rumors of an issue with the Hechsher of the Tinglers candies, the pioneer Paskesz Candy Company has released a statement saying there was never an issue with the candy, and has supplied TLS with a letter signed by the Mashgiach Harav Westheim of Manchester, England.

The rumor was started by a local grocery store who told customers seeking the candy that there was an issue with the Hechsher and they therefore were no longer carrying the product.

  1. It is not a rumor. There are several production issues that have been part of ongoing discussions between the store and the hashgocho for months, and the store felt that while this particular product could not be considered categorically non kosher, it did not meet acceptable standards to continue to be placed on the store’s shelves. There are many products on the market, and in todays complex world, where many products are produced in far flung regions of the world such as Asia, some products will have more kashrus issues than others. Each consumer should consult his own Rov as to wether a particular product meets his kashrus standards.

  2. It would seem it is “moitzee sheim rah” for the store to say that they took it off the shelves because of hashgocho issues. I don’t think they should be allowed to say more then that it was taken off the shelf and they don’t know the reason why if the issues caused them concern about it’s kashrus status.

  3. If everyone would only get the story straight it would be nice….A mashgiach suspected that something was wrong with one of the ingredients and he did his duty of finding out. Until it was cleared up, people were told not to buy the product to avoid being nichshal. Once it was clarified- it’s for sale again.

  4. It seems to have been a LABELING issue, where the case or the indiv. items stated an additional ingredient. Seems that it got the all clear. Labeling problems are common. Some of them, such as this one,are benign.

  5. Horav Westheim is not a mashgiach- he is a very choshuve rov and one of the leading poskim in the UK. He is also the rav hamachshir of iggud harabonim- one of the biggest hechsherim in the world!

  6. I think before a store takes a popular product like Tinglers off the shelf and starts rumors like this, a competent Rav should be consulted. Obviously many issurim have been transgressed, and the
TINGLERS ARE THE ONLY THING THAT REMAINS KOSHER!!!

  7. hey ya’ll every since iv’e seen tinglers in the store i was hooked! me and my friends ate them like they were water! tinglers r the bestest nosh ever!!!!!!! go nerds!
