ParkMG, owned by Akiva Reiner, has won the contract for the Re-branding Campaign for the Lakewood Township. After seeing the RFP advertised on The Lakewood Scoop, the group placed a bid for the contract and won. ParkMG began working on the Re-branding Campaign approximately two weeks ago and is seeking the input from all Lakewood residents, so that the new direction will reflect a wide range of opinions. yeshvisha car will do it
i kind of like the old logo, since when does a flag or a logo change with the times, its not a supermarket.
the opposite is true the old logo resembles the o’l country that lakewood used to be, and after all is said and done still really is compared to ny and la dont fool yourselves!
What a joke. think of all the money being wasted on this. How much is it going to cost for letterhead, signage changes etc.
sounds like we have so much extra money to spend?!?!?!?! explain why this comes first to lakewood ems someone please??
Old Slogan: Lakewood, it our town.
New Slogan: Lakewood, it’s their town.
With all the cuts the town is doing do we need to waste the money on this? Lets see you want to get rid of the E.M.S. you voted down the fire budget. But wait lets waste money on changing this. If you are from Lakewood you will understand what the logo represents. If you just moved here a few years ago ok than lets change it because you really don’t care about the town anyway lets just waste money.
What? Lakewood has money, you must still be feeling the effects from celebrating purim.
Whats wrong with the old one?
The the extra money instead for more plow trucks!
This is just another example of our town doing things backwards. How do you rebrand something that is not even there yet? Could you imagine Coca Cola making a huge campaign announcing New Coke, before they even make new coke?
This fits in with the modus operandi of our township. Projects are greenlighted without any thought to their need , benefit, purpose, or regard to where the money will come from for future maintenance of their inane pet projects.
I would like to suggest a few new slogan choices, since we are already paying for it to be changed.
1.LAKEWOOD!
hey we’re working on it.
2.WELCOME TO LAKEWOOD.
C’mon it’s not THAT bad.
For the logo just put the cart before the horse. That seems to be normal around here.
Where is hershel on this one?
HH is so off base its sad. We cant be a one-issue town. And while its nice to say fix it before advertising it, you need to do something to change the world’s perception of Lakewood, and it might be to get people to think of the changed potential of the town. no, people, it is no longer the town with all the hotels and the horse and buggy carrying you from the train station to the jefferson on 3rd. If you want real businesses, not yoily’s fish markets, to come here, you better project something better than we are doing. BUt no, lets just pour everything into efforts we will fail at, like doing the DEA’s and FBI’s work for them. Wake up HH, its not in our hands. but this is. If you are going to complain or campaign, you gotta get the goods. So just Relax dont do it, someones gonna get to it.
GREAT IDEA!perception vs. Reality usually perception wins.If we focus on lakewoods image..the downtown problems would fade away on its own!
Good Point Kmit,
I think this campaign can attract new business to Lakewood and give Lakewood positive exposure.
Whose idea was this? The imagery on most state and national flags are also obsolete. But that’s what its all about. These are symbols. They’re meant to be eternal. A face-lift is fine. What images are they going to switch to? The vacant corporate park or the day laborers lining the downtown?
Ok kmit you sold me. We will get businesses here by creating a new image. When they come to see the town we can build a facade in front of all the buildings, and have a costume designer dress up the loiterers to look like shoppers. We can spray some febreeze to cover the smell of roasting liver. I will personally bring the new logo and letterhead to the head of tiffany. I think they may just fall for it.
I know you are very kmitted to this idea. But you need to be kmitted if you think this will work.
As far as doing the dea and fbi’s jobs, can I get you a delicious herbalife shake? I hear you could use some acidophilous. You will need it if you invite your corporate friends to our friendly downtown without doing a little spring cleaning first.
HH why do you think all of Lakewood’s business revolves around were you’re store is, its not always about down town and toys for thought.
Lakewood has from the largest industrial parks in NJ and by rebranding Lakewood we can try to attract more companies to that part of town. There are currently a lot empty buildings in the industrial Park
The more companies move to lkwd the more job oppurtunitys are avail.
You guys in Lakewood don’t realize how good you have it- In good old Passaic there is no economic activity at all- no new industry- they have left for the most part and OUR councilmen have no problem with constantly raising our taxes- we pay alot more than in Lakewood and have zilch to show for it!
Strawberry por favore. Thnx HH I thought u only did coffee. You should open an interesting eatery & call it food 4 thought. But no don’t do it till ALL the town’s problems are solved. Puleez as kim would say…
HH 4 mayor…ki la
Industrial parks are an important part of creating a healthy economy in our town. But we need to face facts. When they come to meet you at the township building what will they see? What image does our town portray?
Will you hold the logo before their eyes the entire time? Oh I forgot BOB and friends are planning on building a new state of the art townsip building next to the stadium. All for the magic number of 25 million dollars. Then you can meet with your corporate friends without ever having to see the nitty gritty reality of our downtown. We can have a city center that must be avoided at all costs. We can hang out at one of the many historic strip malls to shop, and pretend these five blocks don’t even exist. I can open a beautiful new store in one of the many new NPGS anchored plazas. I will make millions selling toys to the thousands of new families that will move here to enjoy the new smart growth housing. It will be the paradigm of responsible urban planning.
Oh there is one small catch. If anyone on our township committee, or the people that control the committee, ever bothered to read one book on urban planning, one article, or even ask other towns that have successfully attracted businesses, to reduce their tax burden, what they did, they would realize they need to change their direction. No logo, catchphrase, or marketing plan, will change what needs to be done to ensure a safe existence for everyone in Lakewood.
Thank you. I got. It. WELCOME TO LAKEWOOD
IT’S BETTER THAN PASSAIC.
Your passionate opinions and differences will be the fertile ground from which downtown Lakewood will arise like a pheonix to soar to new heights of community and brotherhood for all. It also makes for good reading on TLS.
What are the priorities of the town? They want to spend money on garbage like re-doing all the signs, letterheads, etc. but they don’t want to spend any money on EMS. Maybe in the near future, if you call 911 for an ambulance, they will send you a sign painter instead. I’d like to know the names of the people who hired ($$$$$) a company to make new signs for Lakewood. There is NOTHING WRONG with the OLD SIGN and logo. Can’t they leave well enough alone. My tax dollars going on something NOT NEEDED. I’ve lived in Lakewood since 1962 and I DID like it here. However, the way things are going now, I think I’ll sell my house (probably to some slum lord) and move out of town. Far out of town. I’m getting fed up!!!!!
ok ok ok lets make the new slogan. Lakewood – we died for the EMS to live another day.
Get a life. or hey here’s an idea. how about get some facts.
between the EMS apologist wackos and the jerks who would rather see lights fall on kids than the town meet its contractual obligations, its a sorry bunch we have blogging.
Scary to think that all of them are probably just 3 people.
Oh and lets not leave out the dopes who think more strip malls will solve the towns problems. wake up!
the only way to resolve your issues … yes, ALL of them… is with voter revolt. But that takes more courage than most here in town have….
including me. so at least TLS is here to let us vent. thnx TLSEditor for cleaning up our comments and whatever else you do to make them unrecognizable from where they started out.
perhaps the most entertaining tls blog yet. Hershel, luv the slogans.
HH, when was the las time a business meeting (not scandel) took place at townhall? They usually happen in Circa, Tastebuds or a real functioningoffice. Not the wasteful township offices with their bloated office workforce.
