Over 2,200 girls attended yesterday’s annual Yad Rachel Walkathon, organizers tell TLS. Due to the forecast of thunderstorms, the event could not take place in Pine Park as planned, and the organizers had to scramble last minute to find a place that would accommodate their needs.
Thankfully, the managers and owners of Lake Terrace graciously opened up their doors to the girls. With the help of many volunteers, including the concern of Mayor Menashe Miller, the walk-a-thon went smoothly without a hitch.
Over two thousand girls walked, laughed, and participated in the many booths, auctions, raffles, events and prizes that were arranged to celebrate their efforts in raising funds for the organization.
The event was arranged, coordinated and executing by the talented and tireless Yanky and Mrs. Suri Robinson, who are passionate about Yad Rachel’s work which involves helping the women and families of Lakewood who are struggling with the effects of Postpartum depression.
The high-light of the event was the incredible performance from the Twins from France, an extremely agile young duo who kept thier audience spell bound with thier unique gymnastics and slapstick antics.
“I cant even begin to describe how grateful we are to these girls, and whoever donated to our cause”, said Mrs. Tamar Gottlieb, one of Yad Rachel’s program supervisors, ” Because they are so young, its hard to explain to the participants the exact nature of what we do, but we do thank them for allowing us to help the Mommies of Lakewood, we make it clear to them at the walk a thon that all this fun and games has a deeper meaning and purpose.”
Submitted clip below of the Twins From France doing what they do best, getting the children to giggle.
