As of about 10:30 a.m. today, there has been approximately 20 motor vehicle accidents in Lakewood – many snow-related, officials tell TLS.
Several of those accidents involved spun-out vehicles, and multiple people have been injured.
Police are urging motorists to use extreme caution on the slippery roadways.
Snow is expected to taper off around mid-afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Snow accumulation is expected to be around two inches.

For heaven sakes! Slow down and allow yourself pleety of braking time and space! Seriously, so many people have no clue how to drive on snow. I propose making a separate road test for winter!
Slow down, stop tailgating, common sense. Snow or not!!
People think they can drive like they normally do just because there is so little snow, and then they start skidding. S L O W D O W N !
Why on earth would you think that the renegade drivers should slow down or use common sense? After all, they would lose their status as Renegades of the Year if they did.
Maybe its time they make it mandatory to have winter tires like in montreal
I was driving EXTREMELY carefully (and slowly) and even so, I twice almost hit another car. The roads were very slippery and my car skidded a number of times.
I witnessed the accident that is pictured which happened at exit 135 south bound on the GSP. Everyone was driving very slowly there was a sheet of ice there and everyone was spinning out.
“Canadian”
In Montreal they need winter tires. Here they simply need to slow down and drive with common sense. Your speed and aggressiveness cannot change because you need to pick one kid up at one end of town at 2:10 and another at the other end of town at 2:15. Everyone in this town is rightfully in a big rush. Something must be done to change it but winter tires is not the change needed!
אשרינו מה טוב חלקינו
To Joe Moe, while I definitely agree that drivers need to slow down snow tires could have saved a young boy from being critically injured… I’ve been driving through Canadian winters for almost twenty years and almost every winter wreck I’ve pulled over to help out were drivers who didn’t have snow tires…and These were your typical hoser Canadian die hards who never go five kilometers over the limit. Some food for thought eh.
Shocking !!!
Drive slowly!
