Hamas still only in the words of its official response to Trump’s peace plan, “affirms its readiness to immediately enter into negotiations through the mediators to discuss the details of this agreement.” There is, in fact, no real agreement on their part to uphold any part of Trump’s so-called “peace plan.”
This proposal benefits one person above all others: Donald Trump. He will get to crown himself the Great Peacemaker, issue statements, and declare “mission accomplished”, while in reality, nothing meaningful will have changed on the ground. None of this will lead to a concrete or lasting solution.
Hamas will never voluntarily surrender control of any territory or relinquish the power it still holds. The cycle of violence will continue, and the Palestinian question will remain unanswered. The biggest loser in all of this will once again be Israel.
This will stand as yet another diplomatic win for Hamas and the broader Palestinian cause, and yet another entry in a long and painful list of diplomatic defeats for Israel in recent years. Even if, in the short run, Hamas abides by certain terms of this proposal (which itself seems highly doubtful), the outcome remains the same.
There is no cause for celebration here, just as there hasn’t been at any point during the last two years of this political horror show. Just days ago Hamas was still firing rockets. Sure, there were only a couple of them, and sure, none of them landed anywhere close to their targets. But what exactly does anyone imagine will happen once Hamas is essentially allowed to fully retake control of the Strip?
And more importantly, what will have been the point of all the Israeli lives lost in this campaign? What will the government tell the wives and mothers of those soldiers who will never return?
“Your sons died so that everything could go back to the same cycle of terror that always was.”
I simply can’t understand why so many self-described pro-Israel voices are celebrating this moment. There is nothing to celebrate here. This is only yet another grim return to a reality Israel has lived with now for decades.

One of the key details of the plan is Hamas giving up its weapons. If the hostages are returned and then Hamas keeps up the fighting they lost their only bargaining chip and Israel can continue what it’s been doing. How is that a loss?
What’s to prevent them from cholila collecting more bargaining chips? Nothing has changed. Halevai they actually do get hostaged back. But at what price.
Meant to say “hostages” back. The miss-type could have a different, unintended meaning.
Missed the boat! Don’t think so shallow look below the surface.
and please stop bashing trump who is going out of his way to help israel. Vihamaivin yavin
Trump only wants a peace deal to boast what peacemaker he is. He has cursed Israel and doesn’t care a bit a bit about Israel only about his orange self.
Let’s go back to Biden deals. 1 dead per 1000 terrorists. That was perfect. That and the threats of America bombing Israel.
Unwarranted conclusion, it’s very possible that Hamas would disarm
You kidding?
Bashing trump is a bchina of harei zeh shoifech dam. If we can’t even thank him for what he’s doing why should he continue to help
Hamas is not capable of making peace, like the metaphor of the scorpion and the turtle. In a brilliant act of political Jiu-Jitsu, the whole world was against Israel at the UN, demanding a Palestinian state. And Trump, brilliantly, says let’s go ahead and or for them a state and see what happens. Israel was being forced by the world to surrender. Trump gave Israel a way out. Let all the the Hamas terrorists out of jail, they’re never coming back to Gaza, let him live in exile until someone kills them. There’s nothing more that Israel could have gotten out of a peace deal.
The first thing that must happen under this plan is the release of all of the hostages. Once the hostages are released, should Hamas not go along with the rest, Israel has a free hand.
At the moment the Arab countries want to end the fighting and being that If the Arab countries are able to establish any kind of control, it is in their interest to get rid of Hamas. Qatar has the Hamas leaders in their midst allowing them to put a gun to the heads of the Hamas leadership forcing them to go along.
The Arab countries have pretty much concluded that this ongoing war is not in their best interest. This can, in theory at least, lead to some peace for Israel.
So, in theory, Israel may be able to gain a lot from this plan and little to lose.
Israel cannot go against trump as USA is really the only country that supports our cause and state.
Don’t see there no benefit – at least we have the hostages. A win…
Donald Trump has threatened Hamas many times and it was all talk and tweets and no action! He has promised that if Hamas does not release EVERY hostage before Inauguration Day January 20, 2025 there will be “all hell to pay” and he has threatened many other times and promised real consequences if they do not release all the hostages and he did nothing. He claims he “ended 7 wars” (ridiculous!) but the war he promised to end on “day 1” was Russia/Ukraine war and it’s very much still going on. You can’t trust this man who will sound tough but no action is taken. He wants this deal only to boast what a “peacemaker” he is but you don’t negotiate with terrorists is something we’ve always known. So let him put on his orange face paint and drink his Diet Coke and eat M’Donalds and boast about what a peacemaker he is and let’s not forget what a fraud he really is!
You are speaking facts.
I’m sure you were thrilled with Biden plans. BTW, Americas diplomats have already stated that until every hostage, living and are returned, Israel doesn’t have to do a thing. By that time, Israel could do exactly what the terroists always do, Back out.
UN General Assembly: “Hamas Leaders Should Receive the Nobel Peace Prize; Trump Should Receive an Honorable Mention”
The UN General Assembly Issued a statement on Sunday calling on the Norwegian Nobel Committee to award the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize to the leaders of Hamas, and to award Donald J. Trump with an Honorable Mention.
“We believe that the tortured, deceased bodies of Israeli hostages in Hamas captivity and the remaining surviving abused hostages will be freed at some point in time, due to the hard work and the peace-loving nature of Hamas’s leadership,” the UN General Assembly said in the statement. “In the face of Benjamin Netanyahu’s recalcitrant nature and his war mongering directives, Hamas has steadfastly adhered to the peaceful tenets of human dignity and respect for mangled corpses, which, in due time, might lead to the handover of dozens of tortured dead bodies, plus an additional number of surviving, emaciated, tormented hostages.”
“President Trump,” the statement went on to say, “deserves profound recognition for the hard work he has put in to end Israel’s military operations in Gaza and for preventing the Israelis from taking further actions against Hamas leaders in Qatar, thereby assisting the Qatari kingdom in providing safe shelter, peace and security for Hamas’s masterminds of terror.”
“However,” the statement continued, “despite President Trump’s valiant work on these crucial matters, ultimately it is the vaunted leaders of Hamas who deserve to receive the much-coveted peace prize. Donald J. Trump, however, should be rewarded with a secondary prize.”
“Hence,” the statement concluded, “we are calling upon the Nobel committee to award the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize to Hamas’s leadership – in Gaza and Qatar – and to award Donald J. Trump with a much-deserved Honorable Mention.”
Hamas will never agree to the plan. At this point they are just posturing. Do not forget the Hashem runs the world and whatever happens is because Hashem wants it to happen. Lev Saar Umalachim Byad Hashem. Just keep davening and turn to Hashem. That is all we need to do.
If the result is that Hamas gets dismantled then it’s a win
You listen to way to much ben-gvir. You lost sight of the whole picture and seem to only be able to focus on being “The strong unstopable IDF that will destroy everyone that tries to mess with us” 8th grade head in the clouds bravado. Adult up, not everything in life is black and white. Decisions need to be made to bring together an improved situation overall as a result of the years long war
It’s all Byad Hashem. If Hashem wants, this can be a big yeshuah for Klal Yisroel, If he doesn’t want, it could Ch”V not be so good.
Trump, Netanyahu, Witkoff, & all the political actors involved are mere pawns in the hands of Hashem.
The more we attribute our destiny to Hashem, the more likely we will merit a yeshuah!
Trump loves deals he would make one with Hitler having said that Bibi showed he is not a leader and is a sellout and has zero independence
