President Trump’s son in law and advisor Jared Kushner will be going to the Middle East this week to promote Trump’s long anticipated peace plan. The plan took years to craft and refine as President Trump tries to take into account Israel’s security needs and Palestinian economic needs. No president in history has worked harder to achieve a lasting peace between Israel and Palestinians.
But President Trump’s plan is bound to fail. Not because his peace plan is a bad one – in fact, there is good reason to believe it would be beneficial to both sides. Although I am skeptical, it might even be possible that Palestinian Authority leaders will be receptive to a peace deal, knowing that the attrition and hardships that Palestinians face due to terrorist attacks against Israel, will come back to bite them in the form of an uprising against their leadership.
Even so, President Trump’s peace plan will fail because of the Democrats. We’re all well aware of Rep. Ilhan Omar and Rep. Rashida Tlaib, two Democrats who have shown time and again that they are anti-Semitic. They will undoubtedly be pushing their friends in Gaza and the West Bank to reject any deal from President Trump, urging them to instead continue their ‘jihad’ against the Jews. But it’s not just them. Throughout President Trump’s tenure, Democrats have shown that they care nothing about actual progress, instead choosing to throw sand in the gears of an administration that is doing a lot of good for the country at home and across the world. There is no way that Democrats will allow President Trump to achieve as great a win as is peace in the Middle East. Their hatred for him is far greater than their interest in achieving something major, even if it were bipartisan.
And so, I expect Democratic leadership to tell the Palestinians to hold off. They will tell them that they should just wait a few years until a Democrat is president and they’ll offer them a far better deal, of course to Israel’s detriment. But they don’t care about that, they care only for their political lives, and a peace deal would make 2020 far more difficult to win for the Democrats.
For his part, President Trump must keep pushing and fighting like he must in every matter in which he tries to make progress. He gets blowback for everything he does, and that blowback will be there, seen or unseen, regarding his peace plan. Hopefully, President Trump will be able to pull off a major victory, but Democrats and their political game of color war will make it nearly impossible. Shame on them.
Democrats are becoming increasingly anti Israel that includes our very own Senator Spartacus.
Lets start with Jew Jersey, replace the two Democrat Senators next election. No matter what freebees they promise get rid of them.
Trump has not worked harder than any president in history in achieving a lasting peace. In fact, he has worked harder than any president in history in destroying any chance of peace. By showing clear favoritism to the Israelis by moving the embassy he has completely lost the Palestinian’s trust.
This is typical Trump – destroy the trust of your enemy , and than tell them you are waiting for their phone call. He has zero international political skills and it shows since he has made zero international deals as president. All of his international “deals” have blown up in his face.
ie. Iran, NK, Syria, Mexico, China …
All he has done is lost any feelings of trustworthiness and decency our allies and other nations had towards us.
The Palestinians cannot be payed off or convinced of the greener pastures if they lay down their weapons by someone who has shown his disdain for them.
This has nothing to do with the Democrats or the 2 elected Representatives of the people of the great states of Michigan and Minnesota.
You cannot blame them for everything that you don’t like regarding Israel or all anti-semitism in America.
The “peace plan” is DOA.
What am overly simplistic (& wrong) analysis of a complex situation. It’s as if the author has no understanding of American, Israeli, Palestinian, and international political considerations. The only thing he’s right about is the plan is DOA, but the why is way off.
