Oorah Audition Winner Recall?

EXCLUSIVE JUST IN: Many text messages and group messages are going around with their own voting in place, perhaps eluding to a recall of this year’s audition winner, who many feel was unjustified, The Lakewood Scoop has learned. They claim, that the winner, as in similar contests worldwide, should be chosen by the public vote and not be done internally. The following is the content of one of the widely spread text message groups: “As you know, Oorah released a DVD a few months ago featuring Oorah Auditions. Many felt that the results were unfair. Therefore, a survey/vote is being taken. Tell us who YOU thought the winner should have been. Text your answer to ##########. 1)Shnitzler 2)Gestetner 3)Abraham 4)Shlagbaum.” (Please note, the video below is not a TLS video and by watching it, you may be exposed to external content following the video).

This survey has been sent to over 1,600 Frum Yidden across the country and I will send in the final results when the polls close. Meanwhile, get your friends involved!

How pathetic!

I think there should be a text message election for who should win the Gold Medal in gymnastics at the Olympics.

The contest had rules, and those were followed. Someone else could win by other rules, but you can't call the contest unfair.

bad sportmanship taken to a new low!

I think Gestetner is the real winner!

It's rediculous to pick a winner based on 10 seconds worth of edited video!

It should be like American Idol where the finalists get to sing a song that suits their voices.

Anyhow, the prize has already been awarded so what's the point?

Winston Churchill once famously told a group of journalists "write whatever you want about me..just spell my name right, please".

I'm not sure what the point of this post is.
As someone who was obviously there, I thought it was very fair.
I don't think know if it's the best setup for a contest like this. As someone mentioned earlier the songs should be chosen based on the individual singer and their own unique singing style.
But the point is..this is how the contest was set up and I did not think I deserved to win. I think the winner sang the song beautifully as did the others.
So I appreciate the comments but I can tell you that on the night of the auditions I don't think I sang that song the best one there.
I should also add that it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy than Yonatan.

here are the results from over 2000 people…

GESTETNER= 47.1%
ABRAHAM= 24.3%
SHLAGBAUM= 20.1%
SCHNITZLER= 8.5%

but i agree, you can't tell a true voice from one song,they should let the finalists choose the songs which fits them best like in American I.

Im glad they are rethinking the winner. They all sounded very good but please, anyone can see that Gestetner was the best. He has the sharpest voice and he sung the song beautifully. I think the Oorah judges did not judge it correctly and i hope Gestetner rewins this contest and gets to sing a song on next year's CD. And no, i am not related to Gestetner. I don't even know who he is but i recognize a quality voice with a real potential when i hear it!

Gestetner has a highpitched voice that's it. his control is not great he's voice is not that rich now I don't know if the oorah judges factored it in but shlagbaum has a richer voice.

I'd like thank everyone for their support.

The results of the survey are in, and a representative of Oorah has assured me that certain steps will be taken to guarantee more accurate results in future audions. I can't elaborate at this time, but things will be done differently from now on.

I'd like to thank my friends A.F. and C.B. for assisting me in this survey.
