PHOTOS: [UPDATED] A serious MVA claimed the life of a woman and left another critically injured this morning, officials say. The crash occurred at about 9:00 AM at the Garden State Parkway entrance on Cedarbridge Avenue when a Nissan Altima (pictured), was struck by another vehicle which reportedly blew a red light.
Lakewood EMS responded to the scene and extricated the two patients from the Altima. They were taken to the Lakewood Airport where they were flown via Medevac to Jersey Shore Medical Center.
One of the victims was pronounced dead a short time later, and the other was listed in critical condition.
The passenger of the other vehicle, also a woman, was transported to a local Hospital with minor injuries. TLS/Photos: TLS/Barina Towing.
This is a HORRIBLE story that did not have to happen. If you read the story on app.com, the driver of the SUV blatantly ran the red light on cedar bridge, and hit this car on the side, as it was crossing over cedar bridge. Multiple witnesses testified that the car that was hit had a green.
Someones grandmother is no dead because of some selfish, distracted driver. It makes me so mad to read stories like this. This did not have to happen at all. I hope they throw the book at this driver, but most likely she will get a ticket for running a light and texting, and then get on with her life, while these poor families will suffer for years to come.
Two women in one vehicle male driver of the other
This is horrible, thanks to those who have to care for us in these such troubling of times. This is a job that requires dedication and i think we have the best right here in this town
Thank God for Lakewood EMS…I applaud The Lakewood EMS for their expertise and professionalism and thankful you are here for ALL of us…
make sure all of you that read this article remember that LAKEWOOD EMS DID THE JOB TODAY!!!! not the lfas or hatzolah did it.. lakewood ems is the best .. cuz again we will be on the chopping block. so if you want the best care in lakewood make sure you support LEMS!!!! they are the most educated and professional ones here!!
when are people going to realize driving demands your full attention, this time we have a death because someone blew through a red light!! it becoming all to common occurance So sad for the family of this woman.
It maybe that ems is the most educated. However the other mentioned squads are a lot cheaper to the town and do the same service. Your service is greatly appriciated however can be done for so much less to the town.
It was shabbat so who are the bad drivers????
To # 8- your comment is rude. A person has died have a little more class. All drivers who text and drive are all looking for problems. I live in Lakewood and see too many drivers male and female talking and texting on the phones with children in the car.
If the police gave out tickets for talking and texting on the phones the town might be able to make up budget shortfalls
What a tragic story! May the family find solace!
My life,
I want a paid professional to take care of me. Not a contractor or a student that wants to help and play EMS…….
Lakewood EMS has saved me before and I thank them for that !!!!!
They are great at what they do.
EM
the volunteer would not cost the town, and i would prefer someone who wants to be there instead of someone who wants to clock in and out.the volys in this town have alot of exp and they do not look at the clock or look when they can take a sick day, or if they have time owed to them, they just come out because they want to. Give me somewone who cares!!!!
this is why i drive slowly, especially in lkw. i wont go thru an intersection when the light turns green without looking both ways to see if it is clear or the other lanes traffic has stopped. inattentive driving kills both ways. you have to look out for the other guy.
